Where do you get your pretty pics from?

I just finished reading Margaret Woda's post, based on a post written by another Active Rainer in June 2007, regarding the importance of staging our posts.

Margaret's post, as well as the one it was based upon, makes perfect sense.Manatee Springs

But here's what I don't get....where does everybody find the images for their posts?  Some people's posts feature gorgeous pics that they've taken themselves (like Richard W)......and some people's posts feature cartoons (like Fresh Squeezed Laraine) and graphics (like Lenn Hartley)....

And I have to say I am stumped!!  Where do people get these things?  I mean, I get that I can take my own photos and post them here....like so.....(and if you have never been to Manatee Springs in North Central Florida, I would HIGHLY recommend a visit there!)

But where do you get photos that you did not take yourself? Is there such a thing as photos that you did not take yourself, that you don't have to pay to use?

And what about cartoons and graphics and clip art and the like?  Every time I go wandering around looking for such things, I end up at some shady-looking sites that have jiggly little cartoony guys and a lead feeling in my gut that I'm about to be blasted with an Internet Worm, or visited by The Porn Machine, or some such thing.

So, please, as a pretty newbie Active Rainer who REALLY wants to prettify her posts and make the AR gods proud, could you pretty post people give us schleps some tips?

Thanks so much!
